I’ve always been a word girl. I find it amazing that when I’m struggling, having a key phrase to repeat over and over in my head (or put on a Post-it note on my bathroom mirror) can feel like a lifeline. There is no comfort like the promises of God that still stand even your life feels like a snow globe. Keep your eyes on Jesus and remind others to do the same. Pray for the strength to handle your trials and the eyes to see God’s work in your life🙏🏻 ... See MoreSee Less

One perk of my work is witnessing firsthand what is happening in the trenches of raising kids today. In each community I visit, I see the good work being done, where parents, mentors, churches, and Christian schools are pouring into this next generation to solidly root them in their identity in Christ before they enter the real world that will challenge their beliefs, values, and sense of self-worth. In Auburn, Alabama, I was so impressed by Lee-Scott Academy @lee_scottacademy, where teachers pray together around the cross, lead small group devotions, and had so many high school boys and girls volunteer to lead Bible studies for the younger students that they had to double up on their leadership teams. These are the stories we don’t hear on the news, stories that give us hope for what’s to come and the future leaders being trained for this precise moment in time. A huge thank you to the wonderful Donna Lloyd for inviting me to speak at Lee-Scott, first at an assembly for 4th-12th grade girls and then at a mother/daughter dinner. I loved being with all of you and consider it a real privilege to speak into the lives of these girls. May this next generation of daughters and sons be brave and bold for Christ!🩷 ... My life would be so boring without these girls of My life would be so boring without these girls of mine.😅 They own my heart. Happy National Daughters Day to my favorite 4!!
As a mom of 4 girls, I’ve written 2 books for te As a mom of 4 girls, I’ve written 2 books for teen girls (#10truths and #likedbook) full of all the things I’d want a daughter to know. And over time, as I’ve listened to my boy mom friends share their wisdom and observed the strategies I like best, I’ve come up with things that I would want a son (or future grandson) to know. Here are just a few thoughts and highlights. What else would you add?
5 years ago, I spoke at First Methodist Church Ope 5 years ago, I spoke at First Methodist Church Opelika, and after giving a talk titled “How to Love a Teenager”, a cute Southern woman walked up, pointed at me, and said, “THAT needs to be your next book!”

A lightbulb went off, and when I got home, I spent the next two weeks creating the first draft of LOVE HER WELL. I couldn’t write fast enough, and this to day, I still smile as I think of the inspiration that came from a stranger who let God speak through her.

So when my sweet friend @speakmandrew invited me back to this church, it was an easy yes. This time, it was mostly a new generation of moms and girls, and as I had a session with just the moms, two of my favorite Auburn girls, @ap_bishop and @gaglisson, spoke to the girls about friendship and teen girl issues. From what I’m told, they knocked it out of the park, and that makes me feel like a proud mom. There is nothing better or more rewarding than to see this next generation reaching back to help, empower, and encourage those walking behind them.

Thank you to everyone who came yesterday, and to Drew and @firstopelika for inviting me back. I loved being with all of you and getting to see so many Opelika and Auburn friends!

Ella, you are a treasure to me, and I’m so thankful that God chose me and daddy to be your parents. We are so proud of the beautiful young woman you are, you are easy to celebrate today and always!!
