So often in dating, we make excuses for people. We push down gut instincts and red flags because we like the person, and the fantasy of staying together feels better than the truth. But dating a narcissist (male or female) wreaks havoc. If you’ve ever had a relationship with one, or know someone who has, you understand the way it can impacts your self-worth, psyche, and sense of reality. This full article is on my website and is episode 35 of the #girlmompodcast. When I asked for contributions on IG stories, I got a huge response. I heard from all the way from college girls to divorced women who married narcissists. I thought it’d take weeks to write the article because I had 13,000 words, but surprisingly, it wrote itself because all the stories fell into the same categories. Once you know the warning signs of a narcissist, it’s much more clear to see.Nobody warns girls (or boys) about narcissists, but they should because they are rampant in today’s world. They appear perfect at first, making it easy to fool someone with little life experience. In every email I received, one theme emerged: They all said, “The red flags were there – yet I ignored them.” Many women added, “I could have saved myself years of heartache if I’d just trusted my instincts and that first red flag.” They’re now adamant about helping their daughters and the girls behind them avoid the same mistake. If you have a daughter (or son) in the dating years, share these red flags. Remind them that God gives us instincts, intuition, and the Holy Spirit for a purpose, and the more we listen to our inner radar and spirit of discernment, the stronger it gets. While healthy relationships bring you peace and draw you closer to the people who love you most, unhealthy relationships bring confusion, isolation, and a roller coaster of emotions. You’ll have extreme highs AND extreme lows. 1 Corinthians 14:33 says, “For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.” When someone gives you a funny feeling, sometimes scares you by their anger or jealousy, or just makes you feel unsettled, that’s worth paying attention to. Don’t let them talk you out of those feelings you just can’t shake deep down🚩 ... See MoreSee Less

I wrapped up my 2023 events in San Antonio, Texas, and I can’t think of a better group of ladies to cap off a really special and meaningful year of travel.A huge thank you to my two hosts - Lauren McLaughlin, who invited me to speak to the National Charity League this morning, and Natalie Jones, who invited me to speak at St. Andrews church last night. Every time I visit a community, I quickly realize that if I lived there, these would be my people, and my dream is that one day, all my hosts will meet each other, as I can already predict how well they’d click and what a dynamic force for good they’d be. Thank you to everyone who joined us and traveled to be with us. I’m ending this season with a happy and grateful heart! ... See MoreSee Less

Raising children ushers in a panoply of stress. There is no guarantee that a child thriving at 8 a.m. will still be thriving by 8 p.m., and for those of us who crave certainty, this can be paralyzing. Thankfully, we have a God who holds the world (and our children) in His hand. He knows this job is too big for us to handle alone. He hears our prayers, and He promises that our prayers don’t return void. He works all things together for good for those who love Him. Even if you’re new to faith, even if you’re walking just one step ahead of your child, you can be a powerful prayer warrior for your child. You can equip your child spiritually and point them to the source of all peace. Here are some prayers to get you started.*To join Kari’s new email list, sign up here: bit.ly/44SHzm6*For more inspiration follow Kari Kampakis, Writer and check out these bestselling books: #loveherwell —> amzn.to/3YURzJz#morethanamom —> amzn.to/45Smx7q#10truths —> amzn.to/3sEmtda#likedbook —> amzn.to/3QXBdhf ... There is a difference between “casual” friends There is a difference between “casual” friends and “committed” friends. Knowing how to categorize your relationships helps you build friendships that go the distance🤍
Showing good manners is really a matter of showing Showing good manners is really a matter of showing kindness & respect. It reveals what’s in our heart.

It means holding the door open for someone rather than letting the door shut in their face.

It means stopping to wait for a friend who needs to tie their shoelace as we’re walking into a stadium with a group.

It means reading the card that comes with a gift before opening the gift.

It means being grateful when someone helps us, even for five minutes.

And it means using a social filter to speak the truth in love and know the difference between “thinking” a thought and “saying” a thought. Not every thought needs to be verbally expressed.

New on the #girlmompodcast, etiquette expert Amy Rainer @etiquettewithamy shares a lot of wise and practical insight to help our teens & tweens learn social graces. At every age, we all have more to learn, and Amy is a wonderful resource to help our children feel more confident walking into adult situations and show the kind of character that attracts good friends.

I loved this conversation with Amy, and I can’t think of a better time for an etiquette refresher than here at the start of the holiday season. Listen through the link in my bio or wherever you get your podcasts!🎄

Risen Motherhood is an amazing ministry that has a wonderful podcast too. I wish I’d had it as a young mom as I tried to figure out the role that faith plays in parenting. I highly recommend it, especially on those days when you need peace and encouragement🤍
